My name is György Pécsek, I’m a university student from Budapest, and I’ve been supporting myself through busking since 2024, after a spur-of-the-moment brainwave led me to realise that it’s actually quite a good way for a student to earn a living. At first I only had a guitar, but I soon saved up enough to buy an amplifier, a microphone and some cables, and last year I bought a car – all from the income I’ve earned from busking. Since then, whenever the weather’s good and it’s not exam time at uni, I travel round the country, playing wherever I can, and at night I sleep in the back seats of my car. I’ve even been here in Debrecen to busk.
